Cross-country pole materials
Aluminium - suitable for beginners. If you fall on them, they will bend, but not break. You can then straighten them out again.
Carbon - suitable for advanced skiers who apply stronger force on their poles, which could bend aluminium poles. Carbon poles are harder and can withstand greater force. Their disadvantage is that if you fall on them, they may break.
Composite - a combination of carbon fibre and fiberglass. They are designed to serve as a compromise when it comes to the properties and price. Both of these vary depending on the carbon fibre ratio in the composite. Poles with a high carbon fibre ratio are harder, but also more expensive.
