The Yamaha A-S701 is an integrated HiFi amplifier for home listening, combining high power, precise construction, and a wide range of connectivity options. It delivers a minimum RMS of 100W + 100W at 8 Ohms and a maximum power of 160W + 160W at 4 Ohms, so it can handle even the most demanding speaker systems. The sound character is built on the "Natural Sound" concept—the goal is for music to sound natural, with clean details and good dynamics. The Yamaha A-S701 amplifier uses the ToP-ART design philosophy and the ART Base mechanical solution, which helps keep the signal path as pure as possible while dampening vibrations. In addition to analogue inputs, it also offers digital optical and coaxial inputs, allowing for easy connection to a TV or player. It includes a Phono MM input for a turntable, an output for an active subwoofer, the ability to connect two pairs of speakers (A/B/A+B), and a Pure Direct mode for the shortest signal path.
The foundation of the A-S701's sound is the ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) concept, which is based on simple, direct signal transmission and a symmetrical I/O layout. The left and right channels are routed as directly as possible to reduce the risk of noise and distortion. The ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) Base, along with a solid centre bar, increases rigidity and helps to dampen vibrations. The amplifier uses high-quality components, such as a custom-made power transformer, block capacitors, and extruded aluminium heat sinks. The result is a stable, musical performance and good control over the speakers, even at higher volumes.
The A-S701 is ready for a wide range of signal sources. For analogue setups, it offers 5× RCA/Cinch inputs and 1× Phono MM for a turntable. For digital sources, there is 1× optical input for audio from a television and 1× coaxial input, typically for a player. Also included is an output for an active subwoofer, which will help supplement the system with deeper bass. Thanks to the A/B speaker outputs, you can easily switch between two pairs of speakers or run them simultaneously. The amplifier is also ready for connection to a YBA-11 Bluetooth adapter for wireless streaming.
The front panel features analogue controls for volume, bass, treble, loudness, balance, and source selection. For situations where you want the purest possible signal path, there is a Pure Direct mode, which bypasses some of the circuitry and shortens the signal route. The YAMAHA A-S701 amplifier also supports CD Direct Amplification to increase the signal-to-noise ratio when playing from the CD input. Another practical feature is Auto Power Standby, which automatically switches the device to standby mode after a prolonged period of inactivity (approx. 8 hours). A remote control is included for convenient volume adjustment and function control.
