The BOSCH Professional cable detector can reveal even what is invisible to the naked eye: metal structures, live wires, and wooden elements hidden behind walls. The display with clear indicators immediately shows the detection result and, using the practical marking hole, you can easily mark the exact location of the find. The detector is designed to withstand even the most demanding conditions; its robust rubber housing absorbs shocks, and thanks to its IP54 rating, it is resistant to dust and splashing water.

The Bosch GMS 120-27 Professional is the perfect choice for electricians, plumbers, installation technicians, and enthusiastic DIYers who don’t want to risk damaging cables or pipes. It allows you to precisely locate magnetic and non-magnetic metals, live wires, and wooden dowels. Thanks to its simple controls, it’s easy to use—just select the appropriate mode and start detecting. The device can also identify the center of the detected object and distinguish its material properties, giving you a clear idea of what’s inside the wall.

The GMS 120-27 Professional detector is designed to withstand long-term use on construction sites and in workshops. Weighing just 290 grams, it is easy to hold, can be operated with one hand , and its ergonomic shape ensures a secure grip. The automatic shut-off feature extends battery life, while visual and audible alerts ensure you won’t miss a thing, even in noisy environments.
Grasp the tool by the handle and place it directly against the wall.
Now move the tool in a straight line, applying light and constant pressure.
Once an object is detected (the hole is marked in red), make sure to move over the object (until "green" reappears at the marked hole) and then back. This will give you the most accurate information about the object’s location in the wall.
Tips and tricks to make measuring easier
Before detection, you should ensure that there are no interfering elements nearby; therefore, you should remove metal objects such as watches or rings. When searching for wires, keep in mind that the cables must be live. You should therefore connect electrical appliances (e.g., lights, appliances) to the electrical cable you are trying to find. Only enable the wood detection function when searching in dry walls with a wooden substructure. On other surfaces, measurement results may be compromised.
