Before determining where to attach the electrodes, always keep in mind the general rules against placing the electrodes in the following locations:
On opposite sides of the skull so that the electrical impulse passes through the brain
On opposite sides of the chest so that the pulse passes through the mediastinum
Directly on the wounds
Directly over the carotid sinus (anterior and lateral middle neck)
On the eyelids and above the eye socket
Directly at the sites of inflammatory or infected changes
Inside the mouth on the mucous membrane
For thickly hairy skin (skin can be shaved)
