Other Hard Drive Features
Standard HDDs are notable for their construction. The enclosure conceals a mechanism with moving platters, complete with disk read and write heads. These moving parts can be damaged by a shock or impact, but on the upside, this design also delivers its amazing price/capacity ratio. The key parameter that determines the speed of a hard disk is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. In case of the WD Red Pro 20TB, you can look forward to 7200 RPM RPM. This is welcome news for people with higher requirements, for example video editors, graphic artists, people who play PC games, and everybody else who deal with large amounts of data. File access speed and stability is also impacted by the disk buffer, usually called cache. The Western Digital platter drive is equipped with a 512 MB cache that keeps the last written data for their prompt retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Western Digital HDD
In order to mount the WD Red Pro 20TB in your laptop or other device, you need a 3.5" slot. All communication with the computer is done via the SATA III interface with a standard speed of 6 Gbit/s. This technology is one of the most popular HDD data transfer options available and delivers a throughput of 600 MB/s.
