You can choose from two types of dryers - vented tumble dryers and condenser tumble dryers.
Vented tumble dryers
Vented tumble dryers work by expelling warm air through a hose or vent installed in an external wall. This type is more suitable for newly constructed buildings, which tend to have appropriate vents. When choosing a vented tumble dryer, pay attention to the way the hose is routed (front, rear or from the side).
Pros:
- lower purchase price
- consumes less energy
Cons:
Condenser tumble dryers
Condenser tumble dryers collect the water in a container or route it straight into the plumbing. The ease of use means this type is more popular among regular users.
Pros:
- don't need special arrangements to work
Cons:
If you opt for a condenser tumble dryer, you have the choice between a heat pump dryer and a steam function. Heat pump dryers cool the heated air and remove moisture from the laundry. Compared to conventional condenser tumble dryers, heat pump dryers have a lower fuel consumption, thanks to their lower drying temperatures. Steam dryers on the other hand not only dry laundry, but also iron it. These dryers can also be used on dry laundry to remove unpleasant odours, such as cigarette smoke.
