The AMD B850 motherboard integrates PCIe 5.0 interfaces for both the graphics card and M.2 SSD, which opens the door to fully utilising the performance of the fastest components on the market. You can install up to 256GB of DDR5 memory with overclocking capabilities. The power delivery system and thoughtful cooling of key zones support reliable operation even under heavy loads. Stable power delivery and efficient cooling
The processor's power system uses a 12+2+1 phase architecture, with each phase delivering a current of 55A. Power is supplied to the CPU via dual 8-pin connectors, creating ample reserve for stable operation even with high-performance processors. The Cooling Armour system of passive heatsinks takes care of dissipating heat from critical components. Aluminium blocks cover the VRM power delivery, M.2 slots, and the motherboard chipset. For active cooling of the entire system, the board offers a total of five connectors for system fans.
Memory and storage
The board includes four slots for DDR5 RAM, which operate in dual-channel mode. It supports a total capacity of up to 256GB (4×64GB) and can handle modules with frequencies up to 8000MHz through overclocking (OC). For fast storage, it offers two M.2 SSD slots. The first slot connects via a PCIe 5.0 interface, while the second uses PCIe 4.0. For connecting additional hard drives or SSDs, the board provides four SATA III ports that support RAID configurations to enhance performance or data security.
PCIe 5.0 interface and network connectivity
The primary slot for installing a graphics card uses a PCIe 5.0 x16 interface, providing full bandwidth for powerful graphics accelerators. It is complemented by a second physical x16 slot, which is electrically wired as PCIe 4.0 x4 and is suitable for other expansion cards. Network connection is provided by a fast 2.5-gigabit Realtek Ethernet port. For wireless communication, the board includes a module supporting the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard and Bluetooth 5.3 technology, which is useful for connecting peripherals and accessing wireless networks.
User-friendly features and I/O options
The board includes several features that simplify PC building and diagnostics. These include the SAPPHIRE CORE BIOS, a set of four coloured Debug LEDs for quick identification of issues with the CPU, RAM, GPU or booting, and a Flash BIOS button for updating the firmware without a processor installed. The rear panel has a pre-mounted I/O shield. The connector selection includes three USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type-A and Type-C), four older USB 2.0, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4, and antenna connectors. Audio output is handled by a 5.1-channel Realtek ALC897 chip.
